Bokaro, August, 29, 2026: A joint team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Bokaro Thermal police seized around 25.4 tonnes of coal during a raid on an alleged illegal coal depot near the DVC overbridge in Bokaro Thermal on Saturday.
The seized coal, stored in around 350 sacks, was handed over to the CCL Khasmahal management, according to the source material.
Raid follows information about alleged illegal coal trade
The operation was carried out near Number Two STP, below the DVC overbridge, following information received by CISF Kargali Commandant Raj Pratap Singh and Bokaro Thermal police about alleged illegal coal trading at the site.
According to the information received by the authorities, the alleged operation had been running for around two months.
The source claimed that coal was being transported from the CCL Barwabera and Jarangdih areas on motorcycles and accumulated at the depot. It was allegedly transported under the cover of darkness in pickup vans to coal factories in the Penk-Narayanpur police station area.

After the information was verified, a joint raid team was formed on the directions of the Kargali Commandant.
The operation was led by Assistant Commandant Sarthak Warpe and ASI Ravindra Kumar of Bokaro Thermal police.
CISF Bokaro Thermal Fire Assistant Commandant Arun Kumar Giri, Inspector Ravi Ranjan, ASI Rajiv Karn, Santosh Kumar Tiwari, Rahul, Kapil Bhaira, along with Bokaro Thermal police ASI Pankaj Kumar Bhardwaj and Head Constable Binod Kumar Singh, were among the personnel involved in the operation.
A large number of CISF and police personnel were present during the raid.
The authorities have so far reported the seizure of the coal. The source material does not provide details of any arrest or case registered in connection with the alleged illegal depot.
