Ranchi, August 28, 2026: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren celebrated Raksha Bandhan at his residence in Ranchi on Friday, where women tied Rakhi to him on the occasion of the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Soren said Raksha Bandhan represents more than the bond of affection and trust between brothers and sisters. He said the festival also reminds people of the enduring relationships and responsibilities that strengthen families and society.
The Chief Minister highlighted the contribution of women in both family life and the development of Jharkhand and the country. He said women have played an important role while managing families and contributing through periods of struggle.
CM highlights education and empowerment of women
Soren said educating and enabling women has an impact beyond the individual. According to him, when a woman receives education and progresses in life, it can strengthen the family and society as a whole.
He said the Jharkhand government is working to empower women and girls through educational, economic and social initiatives.
The Chief Minister referred to schemes and programmes including Maiya Samman Yojana, Palash, Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana and Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan as part of these efforts.
Soren said such initiatives are intended to provide women and girls with opportunities to pursue their aspirations, become self-reliant and move forward with dignity.
The Raksha Bandhan programme at his residence was marked by the traditional exchange of the sacred thread, along with the Chief Minister’s message on the broader role and contribution of women in society.
