Ranchi, December 25, 2024: In a significant move aimed at enhancing the recruitment process for Home Guards in Jharkhand, the Home Department has announced new guidelines under the 2014 rules. A key change is the introduction of a 100-mark examination, with candidates required to score at least 30 marks to pass. This marks a structured and transparent shift in the recruitment process for one of the state’s most crucial forces.
Jharkhand Home Guard Recruitment: 100 Marks Exam and Minimum Passing Criteria
The newly revised Home Guard recruitment process in Jharkhand mandates a 100-mark written exam. To qualify, candidates must secure a minimum of 30 marks. This exam will assess the technical and physical preparedness of applicants, ensuring that only the most competent candidates are selected for the crucial role of home guards. The move aims to standardize recruitment and improve the quality of personnel deployed in urban and rural areas.
Eligibility for Urban and Rural Home Guard Positions
The eligibility criteria for applicants differ between urban and rural positions. Candidates for urban home guard roles must either be residents or employees in the city or district for which they are applying. A crucial stipulation is that government employees, including doctors, engineers, professors and bank officers are eligible to apply but must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective offices.
On the other hand, applicants for rural home guard positions must be permanent residents of the block or village where the position is being offered. This geographical distinction ensures that candidates are familiar with the local challenges and conditions.
Additional Criteria for Special Categories: Women and Sports Achievers
As part of the state’s commitment to gender inclusivity and recognizing exceptional talents, the recruitment process includes provisions for reserved seats and additional points for certain categories. In the case of women applicants, 50 seats will be reserved across districts, with 5% of these dedicated to divorced, widowed, or abandoned women.
Moreover, candidates who have achieved significant success in national or state-level sports will be awarded additional marks, encouraging applicants with athletic backgrounds to join the Home Guard force. These provisions aim to ensure a diverse and well-rounded force while providing equal opportunities for women and individuals from all backgrounds.
Selection Process and District Selection Committee
The selection of home guards will be carried out by a district-level selection committee, which will be chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC). Other key members of the committee include the District Superintendent of Police (SP) and the District Magistrate (DM). The committee will oversee the examination, interview process, and final selection, ensuring a fair and thorough assessment of candidates.
Additionally, each district will release its recruitment notification and schedule, providing detailed instructions regarding the application process and examination timelines. The selection committee’s transparency and thoroughness are designed to prevent any discrepancies and ensure that only qualified candidates are chosen for the role.
Educational Qualification and Other Requirements
The minimum educational qualification for applicants is set at the 7th grade. This criterion allows a broader pool of candidates to apply while maintaining the necessary academic standards required for the role.
Further, the Home Department has published the 2014 guidelines in the Gazette, laying down the legal framework for the recruitment process. This publication serves as the official reference for the recruitment procedure and ensures that the process is aligned with the state’s legal and administrative standards.
