Dhanbad, October 23, 2024: : In a significant anti-corruption effort ahead of the upcoming elections, authorities seized ₹71,97,000 from a Toyota Innova at the Bokaro inter-district check post early Wednesday morning. The operation aims to ensure a fair electoral process, with stringent checks on vehicles entering and exiting the district.

Background of the Operation

Following directives from District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Hrideep P. Janardhanan, a series of extensive inspections have been initiated across various police station areas. This is part of a broader strategy to curb the movement of illegal cash and other prohibited items, particularly in the run-up to elections.

Details of the Seizure

Around 3 AM, officials inspected the Innova car, registration number JH 10 BY 9655, as it entered Dhanbad from Bokaro. During the search, the substantial cash amount was discovered, highlighting the ongoing risk of financial malpractice in the electoral process.

Madhavi Mishra reported that this latest seizure brings the total cash confiscated by the district administration to over ₹1.25 crore. She emphasized that maintaining the integrity of the electoral process is paramount, and the administration is committed to preventing any form of malpractice.

Ongoing Efforts and Surveillance

To reinforce these efforts, the district has established 11 interstate and 5 inter-district check posts, where officials rigorously examine all vehicles. Additionally, 63 Static Surveillance Teams, 18 Video Surveillance Teams, and 63 Flying Squad Teams have been deployed to monitor activities closely. The comprehensive approach aims to oversee every aspect of the electoral process, ensuring no illicit activities go unnoticed.
