Dhanbad, November 05, 2024: In an unexpected turn of events, Nirsa MLA Aparna Sen Gupta faced public backlash in Dumaria village during her campaign visit on Monday. Residents protested against her, citing longstanding grievances and accusing her of neglecting the village’s needs over the past five years. The MLA, who represents Nirsa constituency, was ultimately forced to leave the area due to mounting tensions.
According to sources, villagers gathered upon her arrival, expressing deep dissatisfaction over unfulfilled promises. Community members highlighted ongoing issues, such as poor road conditions, a severe water shortage and a damaged bridge that isolates the village. Residents alleged that despite repeated appeals to the MLA’s office, requests for basic infrastructure improvements were ignored, leaving the community frustrated and underserved.
Angry villagers demanded accountability, questioning why the MLA only appeared during election season and had been absent throughout her term. Some residents also pointed to ineffective communication, claiming they received little to no response from MLA Aparna’s office when they sought assistance for critical issues.
A heated exchange ensued as community members displayed placards and voiced their demands. Witnesses reported that a local youth began raising slogans against the MLA, prompting her security team to intervene. After a tense standoff, Aparna Sen Gupta’s team chose to retreat, ending the visit abruptly.
Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, though locals have expressed their intent to escalate the matter if their concerns continue to go unaddressed. The protest highlights growing discontent in Dhanbad’s rural areas, where infrastructure issues remain a significant challenge.
