Hazaribagh, December 12, 2024: A massive fire broke out at the Disneyland Fair in Hazaribagh’s Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday, reducing goods worth lakhs to ashes. The incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures at public events.

Extent of Damage and Immediate Response

The fire engulfed several tents and destroyed property estimated to be worth ₹10–12 lakh, according to the fair organizers. Items such as bamboo poles, plastic sheets, fabric, tarpaulins and other materials were completely consumed by the flames.

Local authorities responded promptly after being alerted. Officer-in-charge Shamsher Bahadur from Korra Police Station arrived at the scene with his team. The fire brigade was called in and after considerable effort, the firefighters managed to control the blaze.

Probable Cause of the Fire

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire might have been caused by discarded burning tires. Witnesses claim that some individuals lit tires to keep warm and later disposed of them near the tents, inadvertently sparking the fire.

District Fire Officer Shailendra Kishore confirmed that the fair had concluded and the tents were being dismantled when the incident occurred. The exact cause is still under investigation.
