Ranchi, December 13, 2024: In a landmark announcement, Dr. Irfan Ansari, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, unveiled ambitious plans to transform Jharkhand’s healthcare landscape during a departmental review meeting held on Friday. Attended by senior health officials and civil surgeons from across the state, the meeting focused on revitalizing the healthcare system with actionable directives and new initiatives.
Dr. Irfan Ansari reiterated his commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, stating, “As a doctor and health minister, I will not tolerate any negligence in healthcare services. Officials performing well will be rewarded, while mistakes will attract strict action.” He emphasized the need to move beyond a paperwork-driven system and implement tangible changes.
RIMS-2 Construction to Set a Benchmark
One of the most notable announcements was the construction of RIMS-2, a state-of-the-art hospital modeled after Delhi’s premier healthcare institutions. With a staggering investment of ₹1,000 crore, RIMS-2 aims to serve as a beacon of excellence, setting new standards for healthcare in Jharkhand and beyond.
1,000 Primary Health Centers to Improve Rural Healthcare
To address healthcare disparities in rural and remote areas, the government plans to establish 1,000 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across the state. These PHCs will ensure that even the most underserved regions have access to essential medical services.
Strict Guidelines for Private Hospitals
The minister issued directives to curb unethical practices in private hospitals, particularly the detention of deceased patients’ bodies over unpaid bills. A government order on this matter is expected soon, ensuring dignity and respect for patients and their families.
Modernization of Sadar Hospitals and Modular OTs
All district-level Sadar Hospitals will undergo modernization to include advanced facilities. Additionally, each district will have modular operation theaters (OTs), enabling high-quality surgical care.
Statewide MRI and CT Scan Availability
Within a week, all hospitals in Jharkhand will be equipped with MRI and CT scan machines, addressing a critical gap in diagnostic capabilities.
Evening OPD Services for Patients’ Convenience
To cater to working individuals and improve accessibility, evening OPD services will be introduced. Doctors will work in two shifts to accommodate the growing demand for healthcare services.
Recruitment of Hospital Managers and Private Doctors
Approximately 200 hospital managers will be appointed across the state to streamline administrative processes. Additionally, private doctors will be hired as needed to ensure adequate staffing in all hospitals.
Jamtara Medical College to Become a Reality
The long-pending proposal for a medical college in Jamtara has gained momentum, with plans for site inspection already underway. This development is expected to enhance medical education and healthcare accessibility in the region.
Upgraded Mohalla Clinics and Comprehensive Health Access
Under the Chief Minister’s guidance, Mohalla Clinics will be modernized to better serve local communities. The government also aims to extend healthcare services to every corner of the state, ensuring no area is left behind.
New Agencies for Improved Efficiency
To enhance operational efficiency, all existing agencies managing healthcare projects will be replaced within 10 days. New agencies will be selected to expedite project implementation and improve service delivery.
