Jamtara, August 30, 2026: A pickup van allegedly carrying liquor overturned between Dhawa and Chapuriya villages in the border area under Khaga police station late Saturday night, scattering bottles across the road.

The accident drew people from nearby areas to the spot. According to information available locally, some of those who arrived allegedly picked up bottles lying on the road and took them away.

The damaged pickup reportedly bears registration number JH 10 CF 2760.

‘Dak Parcel’ marking raises questions

The vehicle had “Dak Parcel” written on it, while the liquor bottles found inside the pickup were reportedly without labels.

The driver and other people travelling in the vehicle allegedly left the spot after the accident.

The circumstances surrounding the consignment have raised questions locally, particularly regarding the vehicle’s marking and the reported absence of labels on the bottles.

Police take damaged vehicle to station

After receiving information about the accident, Khaga police reached the spot and took the damaged pickup van to the police station.

Police are now investigating the circumstances of the incident and gathering information about the liquor consignment.

At present, there is no official confirmation from police or the concerned department that the liquor was illegally transported. The source material also does not establish where the consignment originated or where it was allegedly being taken.

The legality of the liquor and the circumstances of its transportation are expected to become clearer after the investigation and any further action by the authorities.
