Dumka, November 16, 2024: In a fiery address in Dumka, Union Home Minister Amit Shah directly targeted Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren over the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators in the state. Shah, while campaigning for BJP candidates, raised concerns about the illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals and the alleged protection provided by the Soren government. He urged Soren to declare, “If there is any trace of Ram in his heart, let him announce that he will follow the Jharkhand High Court’s order to remove the names of infiltrators from the voter list.”
Amit Shah Questions Hemant Soren’s Stance on Infiltrators
Amit Shah claimed that despite the Jharkhand High Court’s directive to identify and remove the names of Bangladeshi infiltrators from the voter list, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government had moved to the Supreme Court in opposition. He accused Soren of providing protection to these infiltrators, seeing them as a vote bank. Shah sharply questioned, “If there’s any sincerity in Soren’s commitment to the state, why has he failed to act on the court’s order?”
Shah further highlighted the strategic location of Jharkhand’s border areas, which consist of forests and rivers, making it easy for infiltrators to enter the state. He questioned the local administration’s role in facilitating such infiltration, pointing out the involvement of local officials in creating fake voter identities and ration cards for these illegal immigrants.
Amit Shah Accuses Jharkhand Government of Corruption
Continuing his assault on the state government, Amit Shah accused the Hemant Soren-led government of embezzling central funds allocated for the development of Jharkhand’s youth, Dalits and backward classes. Shah stated that funds sent by the central government were being misused by the state government. He warned, “Those who are looting these funds should beware; when BJP forms the government, every rupee will be recovered and returned to Jharkhand’s treasury.”
The Home Minister also referred to the discovery of a massive amount of unaccounted cash at the home of a Congress MP from Jharkhand. Shah emphasized that 350 crore rupees had been found, and questioned why the Soren government had remained silent about such incidents. He claimed that the money was meant for the youth of Jharkhand, and had been illicitly diverted by Congress leaders and their allies.
Comparison of BJP’s Contributions vs. UPA’s Record in Jharkhand
Amit Shah compared the central government’s development contributions to Jharkhand under BJP leadership with that of the previous UPA government. He pointed out that during the UPA’s tenure from 2004 to 2014, Jharkhand received a mere 84,000 crore rupees, whereas the current Modi-led government had provided a much larger sum of 3.9 lakh crore rupees to the state since 2014.
He also highlighted various welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, which has benefited over 30 lakh farmers in the state and the construction of 2 lakh toilets, 18 lakh houses, and the development of critical infrastructure like the Deoghar airport and AIIMS.
Amit Shah Promises Economic Relief to Jharkhand Residents
Addressing the concerns of the electorate, Amit Shah promised economic relief in the form of cash transfers and subsidies for essential goods. He assured the people of Jharkhand that BJP would continue to work for their welfare, mentioning that under BJP governance, 2.85 lakh government jobs would be created in the state. Shah also targeted Soren’s failure to deliver on promises made to the youth, particularly regarding unemployment benefits.
No Need for Concerns on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for Tribals
Amit Shah also touched upon the ongoing debate about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), assuring tribal communities in Jharkhand that they would be excluded from its provisions. He sought to dispel any fears regarding the UCC, ensuring that the interests of the tribal population would remain protected under BJP’s governance.
In his address, Shah made a direct appeal to the voters of Dumka and Jamat, urging them to support BJP candidates Sunil Soren and Suresh Murmu for a stronger and more prosperous Jharkhand.
