Ranchi, December 11, 2024: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri continued his series of surprise inspections of block and zonal offices, aimed at ensuring efficiency and accountability in administrative functioning. On Wednesday at 4 PM, the DC visited the Namkum Block-cum-Zonal Office and conducted a thorough examination of staff attendance and office records.
Biometric Attendance Now Mandatory
Upon reviewing the attendance records, DC Manjunath Bhajantri emphasized that all staff members must mark their presence through the biometric system. Failure to comply would result in the concerned officers or employees being marked absent. He directed Block Development Officer (BDO) Vijay Kumar and Circle Officer (CO) Kamal Kishore Singh to take strict action against unauthorized absences.
During the inspection, it was found that Savita Kumari Verma, the Block Child Development Project Officer, was absent. The DC instructed officials to verify whether her absence was authorized.
Swift Disposal of Public Applications
The DC meticulously reviewed the execution of various tasks in the office, including logbooks, registers for incoming and outgoing files, cashbooks, case files and grievance redressal mechanisms. He urged all officials to ensure the timely disposal of public applications to prevent unnecessary delays and repeated visits by citizens.
Special attention was given to pending cases of land mutation (dakhil-kharij). The DC examined documents and instructed officials to resolve these cases accurately and within stipulated timelines. He also highlighted the importance of promoting the district administration’s official grievance redressal WhatsApp number (9430328080) to enhance accessibility for the public.
Focus on Welfare Schemes: ‘Abua Awas Yojana’ and ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’
DC Manjunath Bhajantri reviewed ongoing projects under flagship schemes like MGNREGA, the 15th Finance Commission, ‘Abua Awas Yojana,’ and ‘Maiya Samman Yojana.’ He directed officials to expedite the process of identifying and benefitting eligible beneficiaries under these welfare initiatives.
The DC stressed that panchayats, as the first point of contact for the government’s welfare programs, should prioritize strengthening their administrative capabilities under schemes like MGNREGA and the Finance Commission.
Cleanliness and Infrastructure Improvements at the Office
During his visit, the DC toured the office premises, instructing staff to maintain cleanliness and improve the aesthetic appeal of the area. He also inspected the availability of essential facilities such as drinking water, electricity, toilets and solar systems. The DC issued specific directions to address gaps in these services to create a conducive work environment.
Surprise Visit to Community Health Center
In addition to the block office inspection, DC Manjunath Bhajantri visited the Namkum Community Health Center (CHC). He checked the attendance of doctors and medical staff, emphasizing the need for punctuality and regularity. The DC interacted with patients to understand the quality of healthcare services being provided and assessed the condition of the ambulance stationed at the center.
He directed CHC officials to ensure that emergency services, including ambulance facilities with oxygen availability, remain fully operational at all times. Cleanliness and functionality of other critical infrastructure like water supply, solar systems and generators were also reviewed.
