Bokaro, January 04, 2025: In a remarkable turn of events, a woman who had been missing for nearly two decades was reunited with her family after being spotted in a viral YouTube video. The woman, identified as Shobha, was last seen 20 years ago when she left her home in search of work in Delhi. Her disappearance had left her family devastated, but a recent YouTube video brought hope to her mother, Lalki Devi, who had never given up hope of finding her daughter.

On December 28, Lalki Devi, a resident of Bandh Colony in the Kathara OP area of Bokaro, came across a viral video on YouTube. The video featured a social worker helping a woman who was identified as Shobha. The social worker spoke about Shobha’s life and her struggles, providing vital clues that led Lalki Devi to believe that the woman in the video was indeed her long-lost daughter.
Shobha had been mentally unwell at the time of her disappearance, which made the situation even more concerning for her family. Lalki Devi immediately shared the news with her relatives and rushed to the local police station to seek help in locating her daughter.
Police Investigation and Search for Shobha
Lalki Devi approached the Kathara OP police station, where Officer-in-Charge Rajesh Prajapati took immediate action. The police team, with assistance from the IT and Technical Cell, worked to track down the YouTuber who had posted the video. The investigation revealed that Shobha was living in Haridwar, far from her hometown.
The police, along with Lalki Devi’s nephew Deepak Rana, and other family members, set off for Haridwar. After a long journey, they reached Haridwar on January 1, where they found Shobha living in a makeshift shelter near the main ghats of the city.
Reunion with Family
The reunion between Shobha and her family was an emotional one. Along with Shobha, her 10-year-old son was also found, bringing an additional layer of joy to the family. The mother, Lalki Devi, was overwhelmed with emotion as she saw her daughter after 20 long years. The family along with the police, made their way back to Bokaro, where they were greeted with tears of happiness and gratitude.
Lalki Devi expressed her heartfelt thanks to Officer Rajesh Prajapati for his relentless efforts in helping reunite her with her daughter. The police’s swift action and the viral YouTube video played a crucial role in bringing Shobha back to her family, ending two decades of uncertainty and grief.
