Jharkhand News: Congress Protest Outside ED Office in Ranchi, Hundreds of Leaders Gather

Ranchi, April 16, 2025: A major protest erupted today outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office located on Airport Road in Ranchi, where hundreds of Congress leaders and party workers assembled in large numbers. The protest was staged in opposition to the ED’s action against senior Congress leaders in the National Herald case.

Heavy Security Deployment Outside ED Office

To maintain law and order, a significant deployment of security personnel was made around the ED office. Police barricaded the area and imposed Section 144, restricting public movement and gatherings near the premises.

Personnel from the Jharkhand police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) stood guard as the protest intensified, raising slogans against the central government and alleging misuse of investigative agencies.

Senior Congress Leaders Lead the Demonstration

Protest Against ED Action in National Herald Case

The demonstration was organized in response to the Enforcement Directorate’s summons and investigation into Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi under the National Herald case. According to the protesting leaders, the ongoing probe is an example of political vendetta.

Speaking to reporters, party representatives said that such actions are aimed at silencing dissent and weakening opposition forces ahead of upcoming elections. They reiterated that the Congress would continue its democratic protest against the alleged misuse of central agencies.

Central Government Accused of Political Targeting

During the protest, several leaders asserted that the current administration has consistently weaponized central agencies like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax Department to pressure opposition parties and create an atmosphere of fear.

They emphasized that the Congress would not be intimidated by such tactics and that the protest in Ranchi is part of a broader national movement to uphold democratic values and constitutional rights.

More Protests Expected Across the Country

As per party insiders, similar demonstrations are expected to take place in other parts of the country in the coming days. Congress leaders have called for public support and urged other political parties to stand united against what they term as an “undeclared emergency.”
