Former Hazaribagh SDO’s Affair & Suspicious Death: Ex-SDO’s Alleged Affair Exposed as Police Submit 36-Page Diary in HC

Hazaribagh, February 04, 2025: In a shocking revelation, police investigations have brought to light an alleged affair between former Hazaribagh Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ashok Kumar and a female employee. The case, linked to the tragic death of Kumar’s wife, Anita, has now taken a new turn with the submission of a 36-page diary as evidence in the Jharkhand High Court (HC).

Police Investigation Unveils Key Findings

The police have recorded statements from over 30 witnesses, including Ashok Kumar’s family members, in-laws, colleagues, security personnel and domestic workers at the government residence. Investigators have uncovered a pattern of disputes between Ashok Kumar and his wife, reportedly due to his extramarital relationship.

According to sources, Anita’s family had raised concerns about her husband’s alleged affair, which led to frequent altercations. The police have submitted crucial evidence, including forensic reports, to the court as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Evidence Collected from the Crime Scene

The incident occurred near the storeroom of the SDO’s official residence. Forensic teams recovered a burnt piece of cloth, an empty turpentine bottle and a matchbox from the location. These items have been sent for forensic examination to determine their role in the incident.

One of the most striking revelations in the case is that the CCTV cameras installed at the SDO residence had mysteriously stopped functioning since August 16, 2024. Authorities are investigating whether this was a planned technical failure or a deliberate attempt to erase crucial evidence.

Eyewitness Accounts and Last Words of the Victim

On the night of the incident, home guard personnel stationed at the gate witnessed flames and rushed to douse the fire. Anita, before succumbing to her injuries, reportedly pleaded to see “Babu” one last time, as per accounts given by on-duty police personnel and house staff.

Family Allegations and History of Abuse

Anita’s sister, Geeta and sister-in-law, Bina Devi, have alleged that she faced harassment and physical abuse from Kumar ever since their marriage in 2011. They claim that Kumar’s affair with a female government employee began during his tenure as the Circle Officer in Giridih.

Their children, Kislay and Aarohi, have also provided statements to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). They confirmed frequent quarrels between their parents, including an argument on the night of the incident, followed by their mother’s screams.

To strengthen the investigation, police have begun analyzing Kumar’s call records from the past year. Authorities suspect that these records could provide crucial insights into the nature of his relationship with the alleged female associate and other undisclosed details related to the case.
