Hazaribagh, December 12, 2024: A chilling murder has shaken the peaceful town of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. The gruesome crime took place in the Jaliya Tuiyo village of the Gorhar police station area, where a man was brutally killed in an alarming manner. The victim has been identified as Triveni Rana, a resident of Bandasingha Bijli Kudra village.

Victim’s Shocking Death: Strangled and Hung from a Tree

Triveni Rana’s murder appears to have been carried out in a savage and disturbing manner. According to reports, the victim was strangled with a gamcha (a traditional cloth), tied around his neck and hanged from a tree. It was further revealed that the killers pulled on his legs after the hanging, causing his death. This shocking discovery was made by locals when they saw the body early on Thursday morning.

Discovery by Locals: Family Notified

The gruesome scene was first spotted by individuals heading to the fields on Thursday morning. Upon noticing the body hanging from the tree, villagers immediately informed the victim’s family. Triveni Rana’s son, Raju Rana, shared that his father had gone to Kapka Bazaar the previous day to sharpen tools used in carpentry. When Triveni did not return home by nightfall, the family began searching for him, but without any success. It was later discovered that a few meters from the body, his slippers, bag, and tools were found scattered, indicating a possible struggle before his death.

Villagers Speak Out: Issues of Substance Abuse and Anti-Social Elements

In the wake of the crime, several villagers provided statements to the police. According to their accounts, the area near the intersection of Tuiyo and Bandasingha roads has long been known to attract drug addicts and anti-social elements. The ground near the trees is littered with empty alcohol bottles, wrappers and other objectionable materials. This raised concern, as locals believe this environment could have contributed to the crime. Village head representative Dhirendra Pandey had previously raised concerns with the police about these ongoing issues, urging for stronger action.

Police Investigation and Official Statement

The Gorhar Police Station in charge, Ajay Kumar Singh, confirmed that the case appears to be a murder based on initial findings. A thorough investigation is currently underway and the police have promised not to spare any suspects. The body of the victim has been sent to the Sadar Hospital in Hazaribagh for a post-mortem examination and further inquiries are in progress.
