Daltonganj News: Youth Climbs Foot Overbridge at Daltonganj Railway Station, GRP Saves Him

Palamu/Daltonganj, September 25, 2025 A high-voltage drama unfolded at Daltonganj railway station on Thursday morning when a youth climbed onto the roof of the foot overbridge, causing panic among passengers and railway staff. The incident lasted several hours before Government Railway Police (GRP) officials managed to bring him down safely.

Youth Identified as Resident of Madhya Pradesh

According to information, the youth has been identified as Mangilal, a resident of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh. He had been working as a laborer in Aurangabad for the past few days. On reaching Medininagar railway station with his brother, he reportedly got separated from him and later reached Daltonganj railway station.

GRP Persuades Youth to Step Down from Foot Overbridge

GRP station in-charge Satish Kumar Pandey said that at first glance, the youth appeared to be mentally unstable. Despite repeated requests, he refused to come down. Eventually, GRP Sub-Inspector Suresh Paswan, with the help of local auto drivers, climbed onto the bridge and managed to persuade the youth to step down.

Mobile Phone Recovered, Efforts to Contact Family Underway

Police officials confirmed that a mobile phone was recovered from the youth, though it was switched off. Authorities are attempting to contact his family using the phone numbers provided by him. Efforts are being made to reunite him with his relatives and ensure his safe return home.

Railway Station Incident Draws Attention

The unusual incident drew the attention of commuters and railway staff, temporarily disrupting normal activity at the busy Daltonganj railway station in Palamu. The swift action of the GRP ensured that the situation was brought under control without any untoward incident.
