Deoghar in Mourning Over the Loss of Krishnanand Jha
Deoghar, December 15, 2024: Former Bihar Minister Krishnanand Jha, a prominent political figure and son of ex-Chief Minister Pandit Vinodanand Jha, passed away on Sunday at the age of 80. Krishnanand Jha, who had been unwell for several days, breathed his last at his residence in Hindi Vidyapith, Deoghar. His demise has sent a wave of mourning across the town and beyond.
Supporters, colleagues, and local residents gathered at his residence to pay their respects to the late leader. His funeral is set to take place at the Deoghar Crematorium later in the evening, with a large turnout expected to bid farewell.
A Political Legacy Rooted in Integrity
Krishnanand Jha carved a distinguished career in politics, following the ideals of his father, Pandit Vinodanand Jha, who served as Bihar’s Chief Minister in 1961. Upholding principles of transparency and dedication, Jha became a symbol of integrity in public service.
In 1983, he began his ministerial career as the Irrigation and Official Language Minister during Chandra Shekhar Prasad Singh’s tenure. He later held crucial responsibilities under Satyendra Narayan Singh’s administration, including managing assembly question coordination. Jha represented the Madhupur constituency thrice, earning admiration for his steadfast commitment to his constituents.
Contributions Beyond Politics: Promoting Hindi and Social Welfare
Beyond his political endeavors, Krishnanand Jha made significant contributions to social and cultural causes. As the administrator of Hindi Vidyapith, he championed the promotion of the Hindi language on a national scale. The institution, once presided over by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, flourished under Jha’s stewardship.
Krishnanand Jha was also a member of the High Power Baba Mandir Management Board, established by the High Court, where he contributed to the governance of one of the region’s most significant religious landmarks.
Deoghar Remembers a Revered Leader
Affectionately called “Huzoor” by locals, Krishnanand Jha was known for his humility, soft-spoken nature and deep connection with the people. His passing marks the end of an era, leaving an irreplaceable void in Deoghar’s political and social fabric.
As Deoghar bids farewell, stories of Jha’s unwavering commitment to public service, language promotion and community welfare continue to resonate. His legacy serves as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations.
