Ranchi News: Intoxicated Driver Crashes Truck into Home in Ratu, Residents Narrowly Escape

Ranchi, November 05, 2024: A shocking incident unfolded in Ranchi’s Ratu area late Monday night as an intoxicated driver lost control of a 12-wheeler truck, crashing it into a home in Hurhuri Gutwatoli village. The collision caused severe property damage, but fortunately, the residents inside narrowly escaped harm. The vehicle, bearing registration number JH 02AN3755, plowed through a roadside shop before ramming into a mud-brick house, completely destroying the kitchen and its contents, including essential items such as a gas stove, rice, flour and a refrigerator.

The incident occurred around 9:30 PM when the driver, reportedly under the influence, swerved off the main road at high speed, according to local witnesses. Homeowner Somra Oraon and his family escaped unscathed but were left in shock. “Both the driver and his assistant seemed intoxicated,” Oraon stated, adding that they were fortunate to have avoided injury. The impact, however, left significant property damage, including the family’s small shop attached to the house.

The accident drew a large crowd from the neighborhood, with many expressing anger and frustration over the driver’s recklessness. Eyewitnesses reported that tensions ran high as community members voiced concerns about the rise in accidents involving intoxicated drivers. Local residents promptly informed the police, demanding accountability and stricter measures to curb such incidents.
