Ranchi, December 02, 2024: In a shocking incident during the Durga Puja festivities in Ranchi, a young man was brutally beaten to death near New Market Chowk. The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder, as revealed in a press conference. The case, registered at the Kotwali police station under FIR No. 280/24, dated 12/10/2024, under sections 103(1)/3(5) of the Indian Penal Code, has brought the truth to light.
Murder During Durga Puja Celebrations in Ranchi
On the night of October 11, 2024, the victim, Rohit Tirkey, the son of Bhola Lohra from H.B. Road in Lalpur, was attacked by unidentified assailants while he was enjoying the Durga Puja fair. The perpetrators severely injured Rohit and despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences). This tragic incident took place near the New Market Chowk in the Kotwali police jurisdiction.
Case Registered Based on Victim’s Brother’s Statement
Following the incident, Mohit Tirkey, the brother of the deceased, filed a formal complaint against the unknown assailants. This led to the registration of an FIR at Kotwali police station, initiating an investigation into the matter. The police swiftly began gathering evidence to track down the perpetrators.
Police Investigation and Action
The police launched an investigation, with senior officers taking swift action. Under the direction of the senior police officials, a dedicated team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kotwali, along with Kotwali Police Station Officer Chandan Kumar Verma, Assistant Officer Anil Kumar, Nageshwar Saw, Meenketan Kumar, Amit Kumar and Rishikant, conducted an intensive search operation.
Two Arrested, One Still on the Run
Through diligent investigation and technical support, the police managed to arrest two of the suspects involved in the murder. The arrested individuals have been identified as 25-year-old Mantu Kumar (alias Mantu), son of Suresh Kumar Choudhary from Vikas Nagar, Piska More and 24-year-old Ayush Raj (alias Ankit Kumar), son of Prem Kumar, residing on SBI Road. Both suspects are from the Sukhdeo Nagar police station area in Pandra.
However, the police have confirmed that one more suspect remains at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend this individual and raids are being conducted to bring him into custody.
Police Continue Search for Third Suspect
The police have assured that their investigation will continue until all the individuals involved in the crime are brought to justice. A search operation for the third suspect is ongoing and further updates are expected as the police close in on the fugitive.
