Jamshedpur, August 16, (J.H.): Burglars broke into a locked house in Ambedkar Nagar, Gadra, under Parsudih police station limits and allegedly escaped with Rs 65,000 in cash and jewellery estimated to be worth between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.
The theft came to light after family members returned home following a visit to the market that lasted around three hours. They found the lock on the house broken and belongings scattered inside. On checking the house, they discovered that the cash and jewellery were missing.
The family immediately informed the police. Parsudih police reached the spot and began investigating the incident.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area in an effort to identify the burglars and establish how they entered and left the house.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the area. Local residents said thefts have been a recurring concern in Parsudih and pointed to an earlier major theft in the locality in which property worth around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh was reportedly stolen.
The latest burglary has renewed concerns among residents about security in the area as the police investigation continues.
