Palamu, September 05, 2026: A surprise inspection of Patan Community Health Centre (CHC) by Medininagar Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjay Pandey on Saturday uncovered multiple lapses, including the absence of 14 doctors and other staff members during duty hours.
The medical officer in charge was also found absent during the inspection. A home guard, Poonam Kumari, was reportedly not present either, while records indicated that her attendance had been marked in advance for the following day.
Doctor absent despite signing attendance register
During the inspection, Dr Ramashray was reportedly found away from duty despite having signed the attendance register. Information about him operating a private clinic also came to light during the inspection.
The inspection further found that the health centre did not have a duty roster on display or available for verification. The vaccine stock register was also not updated, raising questions about record maintenance.
A card belonging to a private pathology laboratory was reportedly found on the table of the medical officer in charge.
Cleanliness and biomedical waste management flagged
The inspection also highlighted problems with basic hospital management.
The OPD and dressing room were found unclean, while proper arrangements for the disposal and management of biomedical waste were reportedly absent.
No patient was found admitted to the health centre at the time of the inspection.
The district administration is expected to take further action based on the findings of the inspection.
