Bahragora, September 6, 2026: Two young men were killed after their motorcycle was allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Jamjurki River in Manushmudia panchayat of East Singhbhum’s Bahragora block on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Pabitra Mahato, 19, and Hero Mahato, 20, both residents of Bhadu village. Their deaths have left both families mourning, with relatives arriving at the hospital after receiving the news.
Vehicle driver flees after collision
According to the information available, the two men were returning home on a motorcycle after travelling towards Manushmudia. When they reached an isolated stretch near the Jamjurki River, their motorcycle was struck by an unidentified vehicle.
Both riders sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene.
Local residents reached the spot after learning about the accident and took the injured men to Jhargram Hospital for treatment. Both subsequently died during treatment.
The deaths triggered an emotional scene at the hospital as the victims’ relatives arrived after being informed of the incident.
Police begin investigation
Bahragora Police have started investigating the accident and are attempting to identify the vehicle and its driver.
Station-in-charge Shankar Kushwaha said the circumstances of the accident were being investigated and efforts were underway to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the collision.
