Koderma, September 06, 2026: An overnight break-in at three adjoining shops in Larabad under Koderma Sadar police station has left local traders concerned, with stolen goods reportedly worth around Rs 1.5 lakh.

The theft came to light on Sunday morning when people passing by noticed that the lock on the main door of a welding shop owned by Chhotelal Vishwakarma, a resident of Larabad, had been broken.

The shop owner was informed and reached the premises to find that the thieves had allegedly cut through a wall to enter the shop. A generator motor kept inside was found missing.

Two neighbouring shops also targeted

The incident was not limited to the welding shop. After the break-in was discovered, neighbouring shopkeepers checked their premises and found that two more adjoining shops had also been burgled.

The combined value of the stolen material has been estimated at around Rs 1.5 lakh, according to the information available.

Koderma Sadar police reached the area after receiving information about the theft and inspected the affected shops. Officers also questioned people in the surrounding area as part of the investigation.

One suspect detained for questioning

Police have detained one suspected youth and are questioning him in connection with the case.

Investigators are now working to establish how the three shops were targeted and whether others were involved. The police have not yet disclosed further details about the suspect or made any arrests in the case.

Traders seek stronger night patrols

The theft has also revived concerns among local traders about security in the area.

Residents said incidents of theft have reportedly been increasing and urged the police to increase night patrolling and identify those responsible at the earliest.

The investigation is continuing.
