Accused Reveals Motive: Message Sent to Frame Daughter’s Boyfriend

Ranchi, December 09, 2024: Delhi Police, in coordination with Ranchi Police, has arrested the accused who sent threatening messages to Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP, Sanjay Seth, demanding ₹50 lakh. The accused confessed to sending the message to frame his daughter’s boyfriend.

Threatening Message Demands ₹50 Lakh from Minister

The incident unfolded when Union Minister Sanjay Seth received a threatening message on his mobile phone last Friday, while he was in Delhi. The message demanded ₹50 lakh within three days, warning of “serious consequences” in case of non-compliance. The Minister promptly informed Delhi Police, which initiated a thorough investigation.

Investigation Leads to Arrest in Ranchi

Delhi Police’s technical team traced the message’s origin to Hochar village in Ranchi’s Kanke area. Acting swiftly, they alerted the Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag Gupta, who directed the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and senior Ranchi police officers to investigate.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Minajul, was arrested along with his daughter’s boyfriend, Mohammad Moiz, for questioning. The mobile phone used to send the threatening message has also been seized for forensic examination.

The Motive Behind the Threat: Personal Vendetta

During interrogation, Minajul initially denied any involvement. However, when confronted with evidence, he confessed to the crime. Minajul revealed that he disapproved of his daughter’s relationship with Mohammad Moiz. To frame Moiz, he sent the threatening message using his daughter’s mobile phone.

Further investigations revealed that Moiz had provided a SIM card registered in his name for Minajul’s daughter to communicate with him. Aware of this, Minajul planned to implicate Moiz by using the same SIM card to send a threatening message to a high-profile individual like Minister Sanjay Seth.

How the Plot Unfolded

Minajul took advantage of an opportunity when Moiz was away, using his daughter’s phone to send the threatening message. By targeting a prominent political figure, he believed Moiz would be swiftly arrested, putting an end to the relationship.

Police have confirmed that Minajul orchestrated the plan with meticulous attention to detail, leveraging the mobile number’s ownership to mislead investigators initially.

Escape and Capture

When police reached Hochar village to investigate, Moiz fled the scene, suspecting the investigation was related to the threatening message. Delhi Police, with the help of Ranchi Police, detained Moiz’s brother and another associate for questioning. This eventually led to Moiz’s apprehension and the unraveling of the entire plot.
