Dhanbad, May 4, 2025: A shocking case of domestic violence turned fatal in the Rajganj area of Dhanbad, where a man allegedly strangled his wife to death and buried her body in a secluded location in an attempt to destroy evidence. The accused, Manbodh Pandit, has been arrested and the body has been recovered by the police for post-mortem examination.
Husband Tried to Pass Off Murder as Suicide

However, the suspicious circumstances raised red flags for the victim’s relatives, who immediately alerted local authorities, including the Mukhiya of Bagdaha Panchayat, Babulal Mahto and Panchayat Committee Member Dhananjay Mahto.
The police were informed and launched an immediate investigation.
Police Interrogation Revealed Confession
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime. He admitted to strangling his wife, Lakshmi Pandit and burying her body about half a kilometer away from their residence in a deserted area.
The Dhanbad police, under the supervision of Magistrate Ravindra Thakur and following orders from Rajganj Station House Officer Alisha Kumari, recovered the body from a shallow grave late Saturday night.
Victim Identified: Lakshmi Pandit from Bokaro
The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Pandit, daughter of the late Uttam Pandit from Narra village, Bokaro district. She was married to Manbodh Pandit seven years ago. The couple had two young children, both of whom are now left without their mother.
Family members revealed that Lakshmi had been facing continuous abuse at the hands of her husband. Previous complaints of physical assault had been filed against the accused, indicating a history of domestic violence.
Sister of Deceased Alleges Repeated Abuse
