Police Action in Baharagora Leads to Arrest of Two Individuals for Illegal Liquor

Jamshedpur, November 03, 2024: In Baharagora’s Barsol area, police apprehended two men during a routine vehicle check at Khandamouda Chowk for possessing illegal English liquor. The suspects, identified as Uttam Mohanty and Abhijit Patro, were transporting cartons of liquor on a scooter, allegedly en route from West Bengal.

Incident Details: Police Chase Leads to Arrest

Upon noticing the police presence, Mohanty and Patro attempted to evade capture by fleeing on their scooter. However, law enforcement officials quickly pursued and apprehended the duo. During subsequent questioning, the men disclosed that they had purchased the liquor from a licensed shop in Chichra, West Bengal, intending to sell it in Baharagora, where they have been engaged in this illicit trade.

Legal Consequences: FIR Filed and Jail Sentencing

Authorities seized the illegal liquor and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects. Following the arrest, Mohanty and Patro were remanded to jail, highlighting the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region.
