Chaibasa Road Accident: 10-Year-Old Child Crushed by Truck, Villagers Block Main Road in Protest

Chaibasa, September 28, 2025: A tragic road accident near Singhpokharia Railway Station on the Chaibasa–Jagannathpur main road left a 10-year-old child dead on Sunday morning. According to eyewitnesses, the child was out with friends when a speeding truck, reportedly coming from the wrong direction, ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Villagers Block Chaibasa–Jagannathpur Road After Child’s Death

Following the accident, anger erupted among local residents. Enraged villagers blocked the Chaibasa–Jagannathpur main road, demanding immediate intervention from the administration. Protesters insisted that the agitation would continue until local MLA and Transport Minister Deepak Birua reached the spot and addressed their concerns.

Police Deployed to Control Chaibasa Road Blockade

As news of the road accident spread, the Chaibasa Circle Officer and the Mufassil Police Station in-charge rushed to the scene. Despite efforts to pacify the crowd, villagers refused to lift the blockade. To prevent escalation, additional security forces were deployed, ensuring law and order in the area.

Long-Standing Demands for Road Safety in Chaibasa

Local residents expressed deep frustration over repeated road accidents in the Singhpokharia stretch. Community member Munda Sona Sawainya stated that despite multiple accidents claiming lives earlier, authorities have failed to construct speed breakers or implement safety measures. Villagers accused the administration of offering assurances in the past but not delivering on promises, including compensation for bereaved families.

Child’s Body Sent for Post-Mortem as Probe Continues

Police have sent the body of the deceased child for post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that investigations are underway, and efforts are being made to restore normalcy in the region after the tragic Chaibasa accident.
