Dhanbad Mourns the Death of Former DC Beela Rajesh
Dhanbad, September 25, 2025: The city plunged into mourning following the demise of Dr. Beela Rajesh, former Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad and a 1997-batch IAS officer. News of her death has left the district in grief, with tributes pouring in for her significant contributions to the region.
On Thursday, a district-level Peace Committee meeting was held at Town Hall, where officials, representatives, and community members paid homage. Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan highlighted her dedication to public service, stating that Dr. Beela Rajesh’s efforts in Dhanbad’s development will always remain unforgettable.
IAS Officer Dr. Beela Rajesh Dies at 55
According to official reports, Dr. Beela Rajesh, aged 55, passed away on Wednesday at her residence in Chennai. At the time of her death, she was serving as Principal Secretary in the Commercial Taxes Department of Tamil Nadu.
She is survived by her family, including two daughters. A Jharkhand-cadre IAS officer by origin, she later opted for the Tamil Nadu cadre. Over the years, she also served as OSD in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, gaining recognition for her administrative expertise.
Legacy of Former Dhanbad DC Beela Rajesh
Dr. Beela Rajesh served as Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad from February 12, 2004, to April 20, 2007. Residents of the coal capital continue to recall her tenure with respect and admiration.
One of her landmark contributions was the successful execution of the Maithon Water Supply Scheme, a crucial project that ensured clean water for the city. Nearly 40 kilometers of pipeline were laid under her supervision, strengthening Dhanbad’s urban water supply system.
Her leadership and commitment to public welfare beyond administrative boundaries left an enduring mark, and she is remembered as an officer who prioritized public interest above all.
Peace Committee Pays Tribute in Dhanbad
During the district-level Shanti Samiti (Peace Committee) meeting, officials and citizens observed silence and remembered her service. Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan praised her for taking bold decisions in favor of the people, even when it meant going beyond conventional rules.
Participants of the meeting recalled her as a visionary IAS officer whose work continues to inspire present and future administrators.
