Giridih News: Gita Hazra Leaves JMM for BJP, Altering Political Dynamics in Jamua

Giridih, November 19, 2024: Just a day before the second phase of polling in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) suffered a significant blow as Gita Hazra, wife of the late Pradeep Hazra, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gita Hazra, who is also the daughter-in-law of former Jamua MLA from RJD, Baldev Hazra, formally accepted BJP membership late Monday evening.

The membership ceremony was graced by BJP’s Dhanwar candidate Babulal Marandi and Union Minister Annapurna Devi. During the event, Union Minister Annapurna Devi welcomed Gita Hazra into the party by draping her with the BJP’s symbolic saffron stole. She commented that JMM had failed to provide Gita Hazra with the respect she deserved.

BJP Welcomes Gita Hazra Ahead of Key Polls

Union Minister Annapurna Devi, in her address, emphasized that the BJP values individuals who strengthen its mission. “Gita Hazra’s decision to join the BJP highlights how JMM has ignored dedicated members like her. In BJP, her efforts will be acknowledged and respected,” she said.

Adding to this, BJP’s prominent leader Babulal Marandi expressed confidence in the party’s prospects post-election. He remarked, “After November 23, no one will even mention JMM. Leaders like Gita Hazra were instrumental in strengthening JMM in Jamua, yet they were not given due recognition within the party.”
