Large Quantity of Doda Poppy Husk Recovered During Late-Night Vehicle Check on Ranchi–Patna NH

Hazaribagh, October 7, 2025 (J.H.): Acting on a tip-off, Hazaribagh Police seized 91 kilograms of Doda poppy husk from a car near 15 Mile area on the Ranchi–Patna National Highway (NH). The operation, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Vishnugarh Baijnath Prasad, was launched following specific intelligence received by Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjani Anjan.

Police Intercept Alto Car Carrying Six Sacks of Doda

A police team was deployed late Monday night for a vehicle inspection drive near 15 Mile checkpoint. During the operation, officers spotted a Maruti Alto coming from Mandu direction. On seeing the police, the driver turned the car around and tried to escape.

Armed police personnel chased the vehicle, but the driver abandoned it near 15 Mile check post and fled towards the nearby forest. Despite waiting for several hours, no one returned to claim the vehicle. Upon searching the car, police recovered six sacks of Doda husk weighing approximately 91 kilograms, hidden inside the vehicle.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act in Hazaribagh

The seized material and vehicle were taken to the local police station. SDPO Baijnath Prasad confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the vehicle owner and the unidentified driver.

Police teams have launched a search operation to trace the accused involved in illegal transportation of narcotic substances through the Ranchi–Patna National Highway corridor. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts intensified to identify and dismantle the supply chain.

Police Team Behind the Operation

The anti-narcotics operation included Charhi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kundan Kant Vimal, Havildar Pashupati Singh, and Constable Binod Kumar Paswan, among others. Officials said that the successful seizure reflects the police’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and maintaining vigilance on state highways.
