Ranchi, October 27, 2024: In an innovative initiative aimed at boosting voter turnout for the upcoming 2024 Assembly Elections, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office is launching the “MummyPapaVoteDo” campaign. This unique effort encourages school children to actively participate in the electoral process by writing heartfelt letters to their parents, urging them to exercise their voting rights.
Scheduled for October 28, the campaign will take place from 11 AM to 12 PM, allowing students across the state to express their feelings and motivate their parents to vote. The letters are intended to highlight the importance of civic engagement and the critical role that parents play in shaping the democratic landscape of the country.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar, this initiative not only aims to enhance voter participation but also seeks to instill democratic values in children, who represent the future of our electorate.
Engaging the Community through Social Media
The campaign extends beyond letter-writing. In the evening, from 5 PM to 7 PM, children and community members will take to social media platforms, posting messages under the hashtag #MummyPapaVoteDo. This initiative encourages parents, guardians and citizens to share their voting pledges, tag the Election Commission and engage with the campaign online. The use of social media aims to leverage the digital presence of younger generations, making the campaign more relatable and accessible.
Kumar emphasized the impact of such grassroots efforts, stating, “The emotional appeal of children can significantly influence their parents’ decisions regarding voting. We believe that this initiative will not only encourage parents to vote but also teach children the value of participation in democracy.”
Influencer Participation and Wider Reach
Recognizing the influence of social media, the Chief Electoral Officer has invited local influencers to join the campaign. Their participation is expected to amplify the reach of the message, engaging a wider audience and creating a ripple effect within communities. This collaborative approach aims to maximize the campaign’s visibility and effectiveness, reinforcing the call for democratic participation.
The “MummyPapaVoteDo” campaign aligns with ongoing efforts by the Election Commission to ensure that every eligible voter casts their ballot. As part of a larger strategy to enhance civic engagement, this initiative seeks to create a culture of voting that transcends generations.
In summary, as the date of the campaign approaches, anticipation builds around the potential impact of this initiative on voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly Elections. By harnessing the enthusiasm and sincerity of school children, the “MummyPapaVoteDo” campaign represents a significant step toward fostering a more engaged and informed electorate.
The collaboration between students, parents and social media influencers serves as a reminder of the vital role that every citizen plays in the democratic process.
