Palamu, November 09, 2024: During a high-energy rally in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a powerful statement targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and addressing the contentious issue of reservations for Muslims. Amit Shah’s speech, aimed at galvanizing support for BJP candidates, emphasized the party’s commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of marginalized communities while accusing the Congress of misleading the public.
Amit Shah’s Accusation Against Rahul Gandhi
In his fiery address, Amit Shah asserted that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have been promoting policies that could potentially compromise the reservations guaranteed for backward classes and indigenous groups. “Rahul Gandhi, listen carefully: Muslims will never receive reservations as long as BJP is in power,” Shah declared, drawing strong applause from the audience. He accused Rahul Gandhi of plotting to reduce the reservations of Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to allocate them to Muslims.
Amit Shah stated, “Congress’s plan to grant 10 percent reservation to Muslims would mean taking away from the rightful share of backward communities.” He contended that such policies go against the principles laid out in the Indian Constitution, which prioritizes reservations for socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
The Constitution and the Reservation Debate
Linking his remarks to the sanctity of the Constitution, Amit Shah highlighted that while Rahul Gandhi publicly displays the Constitution during rallies, his actions allegedly undermine its true essence. “Waving the Constitution is easy, but respecting it is different. The BJP will never allow any infringement on the rights of OBCs and tribal communities,” Shah proclaimed.
The reservation policy in India has long been a subject of debate, with political parties offering differing views on its scope and beneficiaries. Amit Shah’s speech aimed to consolidate BJP’s image as a protector of existing reservation structures while casting doubt on Congress’s motives.
Criticism of Opposition Parties
Beyond Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah extended his critique to regional players, including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He accused these parties of aligning with Congress and supporting policies that do not serve the interests of Jharkhand’s population. “These alliances are built on political expediency, not the well-being of our people,” Shah said, emphasizing the BJP’s focus on stability and progress.
Election Promises and Assurances
Amit Shah’s rally also served as a platform to reiterate the BJP’s election commitments. He highlighted significant promises from the party’s manifesto, such as financial assistance to women, affordable gas cylinders and employment generation. “Women will receive ₹25,000 annually and ₹500 gas cylinders will become a reality under BJP governance,” Shah assured.
The Home Minister also mentioned the party’s pledge to create 2.87 lakh government job opportunities and provide a monthly unemployment allowance for youth. His statements aimed to resonate with Jharkhand’s electorate by addressing key socio-economic concerns.
Corruption Allegations Against the State Government
Amit Shah did not hold back in his criticism of the incumbent state government, labeling it “one of the most corrupt in the country.” He cited instances of large-scale financial irregularities, including raids uncovering ₹350 crore at the residence of a Congress MP and ₹30 crore from the household staff of a state minister’s aide. “This is money that belongs to the people of Jharkhand and we promise to investigate and bring justice,” Shah vowed.
He further emphasized that if the BJP returns to power, thorough probes into corruption cases and paper leak scandals would be conducted, and stringent action would be taken against the perpetrators.
Political Context and BJP’s Position
Amit Shah’s remarks came at a critical juncture, as parties gear up for elections in Jharkhand. The issue of reservations and constitutional integrity remains a focal point of public discourse. By positioning the BJP as a guardian of constitutional rights and accusing opponents of undermining them, Amit Shah aims to bolster the party’s standing ahead of the polls.
