Ranchi, November 13, 2024: The first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections began today, with voting held from 7 AM to 5 PM across 43 constituencies. Among the early voters were Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Sinha and his wife, Kanchan Singh, who cast their ballots at booth number 383 in the Kanke Assembly constituency.
Speaking to the media after voting, SSP Chandan Sinha emphasized the rigorous security arrangements in place to ensure a smooth election process. “The election process is secure, and we have taken all necessary precautions to ensure voter safety. I urge all eligible voters to come out and exercise their democratic right,” Sinha said.
Kanchan Singh, also present at the polling station, joined her husband in encouraging citizens to participate. “Voting is a fundamental right and an essential duty. I encourage everyone to step out and vote for a better future,” she stated, urging the public to actively engage in the election process.
Voter Turnout in Ranchi District
As of 9 AM, voter turnout in Ranchi’s five constituencies showed varying participation levels. The constituency of Tamad led with a 14.97% turnout, followed by Mandar at 14.85%, Kanke at 10.95%, Hatia at 11.3%, and Ranchi at 10.05%. Election officials remain optimistic that voter turnout will increase as the day progresses, with efforts in place to encourage greater participation throughout the city.
