Ramgarh Police Crack Down on Bhurkunda Firing Incidents
Ramgarh, September 25, 2025: Ramgarh Police have arrested three members of the Rahul Dubey gang in connection with two separate firing incidents reported in the Bhurkunda OP area of Ramgarh district. The arrested men have been identified as Tushar Mishra alias Shomya Mishra, a resident of Marar in Ramgarh, Mangalesh Kumar alias Mangalesh, a resident of Bara Jamua under Barwaddah in Dhanbad; and Mukesh Kumar alias Mukku, a resident of Barkagaon in Hazaribagh.
During the operation, police recovered one 7.65 mm pistol, one country-made pistol, seven live cartridges, two smartphones, and one keypad mobile phone from their possession.
Firing at Mining Sites in Bhurkunda Linked to Extortion
According to Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar, the gang carried out two separate shootings in August 2025. On August 18 at around 8:30 pm, gunshots were fired at RA Mining site in Siyal Bhurkunda. Merely eleven days later, on August 29 around 10 pm, another firing was reported at Pappu Jain’s site in Central Saunda Bhurkunda.
Police investigations revealed that both incidents were carried out with the intention of extortion and spreading fear among local businessmen and residents. The cases were registered at Bhurkunda OP under Case No. 209/25 and Case No. 220/25.
SIT Formed to Investigate Bhurkunda Firing Cases
Given the gravity of the incidents, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of ASP and Patratu SDPO Gaurav Goswami. The SIT, with support from the technical cell, tracked the movement of the suspects and collected evidence.
On receiving specific intelligence inputs, police learnt that the gang members were staying at a hotel in Kothar, Ramgarh, and were allegedly planning another major crime.
Rahul Dubey Gang’s Plan to Target Kujju Foiled
Acting swiftly, SP Ajay Kumar directed the SIT to conduct a raid at the identified location. Police surrounded the premises and detained three suspects while they attempted to flee. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed their links with the Rahul Dubey gang and admitted that they operated under his instructions.
They further revealed that they were planning a firing incident in Mahuatungri under Kujju OP area and had already conducted reconnaissance of the site. The accused also confessed to their involvement in the August 18 and August 29 Bhurkunda mining site firing incidents.
Arrests a Major Setback for Rahul Dubey Gang in Ramgarh
The three arrested members were later remanded to judicial custody. Police officials confirmed that the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in curbing organized crime, extortion, and gang activities in Ramgarh, Bhurkunda, and adjoining areas.
