Ranchi, December 24, 2024: In a significant development, around 8,000 para teachers in Jharkhand are yet to receive their Universal Account Numbers (UAN), resulting in delays in the disbursement of their November honorarium. This delay has caused concern among the affected teachers, as they are unable to access their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) benefits due to the absence of a valid UAN.
UAN Generation Process and Delays
The UAN, which is essential for the registration of teachers under the EPF scheme, has not been generated for a substantial number of para teachers in Jharkhand. While approximately 45,000 para teachers have already received their UANs and their November honorarium has been processed, the remaining 8,000 are still waiting for their UAN numbers to be issued. As a result, their honorarium for November has been withheld.
The delay in UAN generation is a critical issue for these teachers, as it directly impacts their financial stability and their ability to benefit from the EPF scheme, which is crucial for their future financial security.
School Education Department’s Response
The School Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand has taken steps to address the situation. The department has issued directives to all districts to expedite the process of UAN generation. District authorities have been instructed to complete the UAN registration as soon as possible to ensure that the affected teachers receive their due honorarium without further delay.
For the teachers who have not yet received their UANs, the department has announced that their November honorarium will be paid without EPF deductions. This measure aims to provide immediate relief to the teachers while the UAN generation process continues.
District Education Officer’s Meeting
In response to the ongoing issue, Ranchi District Education Officer (DEO) Badal Raj convened a review meeting with district education officials to discuss the situation. The meeting focused on addressing the UAN registration delay and ensuring that all teachers receive their honorarium promptly.
The DEO also emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming eighth pre-board exams scheduled for January. In addition to addressing the UAN issue, the meeting also highlighted other key educational initiatives, including the promotion of the “Speak Ranchi” program, which aims to improve communication skills among students.
Employment Fair in Nagri
In another significant development, an employment fair was organized at the CRPF Group Center in Sembo, Nagri, where Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, handed over appointment letters to 327 youth. These appointments were made in various government departments, including the CRPF, ITBP, RPF, SSB and others. This event marks an important step in providing employment opportunities to young people in Jharkhand.
The delay in UAN generation for 8,000 para teachers in Jharkhand has raised concerns about the timely disbursement of their honorarium and access to EPF benefits. While the School Education Department has taken steps to address the issue, the teachers continue to face financial uncertainty. The department’s efforts to expedite the UAN generation process and the decision to pay the honorarium without EPF deductions are expected to provide temporary relief. However, the resolution of the issue remains a priority for the state government to ensure the welfare of para teachers in Jharkhand.
