Ranchi, November 24, 2024: BJP leader and former Chief Minister Champai Soren has reiterated that the ongoing movement against Bangladeshi infiltration in Jharkhand is not driven by political motives or electoral gains but is fundamentally a social campaign aimed at safeguarding the rights and identity of the state’s indigenous communities.
Protecting Jharkhand’s Tribal Identity
Speaking on his official social media handle, Champai Soren highlighted the alarming demographic shifts in several districts, including Pakur and Sahibganj, where tribal communities now face a significant minority status. “This movement is not about politics or elections. It is a collective effort to protect the dignity of our land, the honor of our daughters and the future of our cultural heritage,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the need to resist the growing threat of infiltration, stating that Bangladeshi migrants pose a direct challenge to the socio-cultural fabric of Jharkhand. “No infiltrator should be allowed to exploit the resources and soil of this sacred land of heroes,” Soren declared.
Impact on Tribal Lands and Culture
The BJP leader expressed concern over the increasing displacement of local communities and the potential erosion of tribal culture. “If we fail to protect the lands of our tribal brothers and the dignity of our women, we risk losing everything that defines Jharkhand,” he warned.
Champai Soren noted that the infiltration issue has led to an imbalance in traditional land ownership, with local tribes losing ancestral lands. He called upon all sections of society to unite and resist these changes, which threaten the region’s socio-economic stability and cultural legacy.
Announcing the Next Phase of the Campaign
To reinforce the campaign’s objectives, Champai Soren announced the next phase of the movement would be launched in Santhal Pargana, a region historically significant for its association with tribal freedom fighters. “We will salute the valor of Sidho-Kanho, Chand-Bhairav and Phulo-Jhano as we prepare to take our campaign to the next level,” he stated.
The movement seeks to rekindle the spirit of “Ulgulan” (revolt) to inspire collective action against infiltration. Champai Soren underscored the need for sustainable community efforts that transcend political and electoral boundaries.
A Call for Unity and Action
Champai Soren’s remarks come amidst increasing concerns over illegal immigration in the state, with many fearing the socio-economic repercussions of unchecked infiltration. The BJP leader urged state authorities and citizens to prioritize the preservation of Jharkhand’s indigenous identity over partisan agendas.
His call for action resonates with the tribal community’s enduring struggle to protect its heritage. “Governments and political parties will come and go, but our society and its unique identity must survive. Our ‘Adivasiyat’ (tribal identity) must remain intact,” he asserted.
Significance of the Movement
The protests against Bangladeshi infiltration have sparked widespread debates across the state, drawing attention to issues of land encroachment, demographic imbalance and cultural preservation. Champai Soren’s campaign has garnered support from various social organizations and tribal leaders, who see it as a crucial step toward safeguarding Jharkhand’s unique identity.
The movement underscores the need for a balanced approach, ensuring that indigenous communities receive the protection and resources they need while addressing the broader implications of illegal immigration.
