Jharkhand Headlines Desk, November 05, 2024: In a series of impactful speeches delivered at election rallies in Hazaribagh and Ranchi, Jharkhand, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a fierce critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the election season heats up, Kharge’s remarks resonate with the Congress party’s strategy to reclaim influence in a state where they seek to consolidate support ahead of the upcoming polls.
Mallikarjun Kharge’s Sharp Criticism of BJP
During his speeches, Kharge characterized the BJP’s ideologies as “rotten,” asserting that their practices are fundamentally aimed at sowing discord among communities. He underscored this sentiment by declaring that both “the ones who divide and those who cut are the same.” This statement reflects a broader narrative in which the Congress party positions itself as a unifying force against what it perceives as divisive politics promoted by the BJP.
Allegations Against PM Modi
Kharge did not shy away from addressing allegations concerning PM Modi’s statements about the Congress party’s performance in Karnataka. He accused the Prime Minister of spreading misinformation, challenging him to engage in an open debate to clarify the guarantees made to the Karnataka electorate. Kharge emphasized that while the Congress party upholds its commitments, the BJP has consistently failed to deliver on its promises, particularly regarding job creation and economic support for the common man.
Response to Immigration Issues
Touching on the sensitive issue of immigration, Kharge criticized the BJP’s narrative surrounding Bangladeshi infiltrators. He questioned the government’s inaction over the past decade, asking, “If infiltration is such a pressing concern, what has the government been doing?” This rhetorical approach seeks to hold the BJP accountable for its governance failures, particularly regarding border security and immigration policies.
Historical Context of Reservations
In a bid to remind voters of the Congress party’s historical role in advocating for marginalized communities, Kharge referenced prominent leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and B.R. Ambedkar. He highlighted their contributions to securing rights for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), framing the Congress party as a defender of social justice and equality in India.
Allegations on Privatization
Kharge also leveled accusations against the central government regarding its privatization policies. He claimed that the BJP has sold off more than 200 public enterprises, including key infrastructures like airports and railways. This was contrasted with the legacy of Congress-led initiatives that aimed to foster public welfare and economic development. By invoking this legacy, Kharge seeks to position the Congress party as the steward of public interest.
Future Political Landscape
Looking ahead, Kharge expressed confidence in the revival of the India Alliance government in Jharkhand under the leadership of Hemant Soren. He noted the Congress party’s proposal to increase reservations for backward classes, which has faced obstacles due to inaction from the state governor. This assertion aims to reinforce the Congress’s commitment to social equity and progressive policies.
