Jharkhand News: Diarrhea Outbreak in Dhusra Village, 8 Patients Hospitalized at MGM Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, September 24, 2025: Panic spread in Dhusra, a tribal-dominated village in Patamda Block, after a sudden outbreak of diarrhea affected several residents. The situation escalated to the point where eight villagers were admitted to MGM Hospital in critical condition. All patients are currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s emergency ward.

Contaminated Drinking Water Sparks Diarrhea in Dhusra

According to local reports, the outbreak is primarily linked to a lack of access to clean drinking water in the village. Dhusra has no handpumps or proper water supply systems, forcing residents to rely on contaminated well water during the rainy season. Villagers reported the presence of insects and debris in the wells, which appears to have triggered the spread of the disease.

Health experts warn that consumption of unclean water is a leading cause of waterborne diseases like diarrhea, cholera, and dysentery, especially in rural areas with inadequate sanitation.

Villagers Appeal for Immediate Government Intervention

Suman Sabhar, a local resident, stated that four members of her family have fallen ill due to the outbreak. Villagers expressed growing concern over the absence of government response, highlighting that no health department team has visited Dhusra, and no relief measures have been initiated by the administration.

The community has urgently appealed to authorities to set up emergency health camps and clean drinking water facilities to contain the outbreak and prevent further cases.

The Dhusra incident underscores the persistent challenges in ensuring safe drinking water and sanitation in rural Jharkhand.
