Encounter in Chatra’s Simaria Area

Hazaribagh, September 20, 2025: A notorious criminal, Uttam Yadav, was killed in a police encounter on Bagra–Jabra Road under Simaria police station limits in Chatra district. The incident was confirmed by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Hazaribagh, who stated that the encounter followed an exchange of fire between police forces and the criminal.

STF Action Based on Intelligence Input

According to police sources, the Hazaribagh Special Task Force (STF) received a tip-off about Yadav’s movements in the area. Acting on this intelligence, the STF team reached the Bagra–Jabra Road location, where Yadav allegedly opened fire on the approaching police personnel.

Injured and Declared Dead in Hospital

In retaliation, police personnel fired at Yadav, with one bullet hitting him in the leg. He was immediately apprehended and taken to Chatra Sadar Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Long-Standing Criminal Record in Hazaribagh and Chatra

Police records reveal that Uttam Yadav had been a major threat in Chatra, Hazaribagh, and surrounding districts for over a year. He was involved in several serious criminal activities and had openly challenged law enforcement on multiple occasions. Multiple cases were registered against him, making him a high-priority target for the police.

Public Relief After Encounter

Residents of Chatra and Hazaribagh districts expressed relief following news of the encounter. Yadav’s continuous involvement in criminal incidents had spread fear across several localities. With his death, locals believe a major source of insecurity has been removed.

Recovery from the Crime Scene

Following the encounter, police cordoned off the entire area for investigation. An Apache motorcycle, believed to belong to Yadav, was recovered from the scene. Security personnel remain deployed in the area to ensure law and order.
