Jharkhand Politics: Former Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi Retires from Electoral Politics, Cites Maiya Samman Scheme as Reason for Defeat

Garhwa, January 15, 2025: Former Minister and four-time MLA from Bishrampur, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, has officially announced his retirement from electoral politics. Speaking to the media on January 14, Chandravanshi confirmed that he would no longer contest elections but would continue to serve the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in any capacity assigned to him.

Maiya Samman Scheme Led to My Defeat

Reflecting on his political journey and recent electoral defeat, Ramchandra Chandravanshi attributed his loss to the Maiya Samman Scheme. He revealed that two days before the election, funds from the scheme were deposited into the accounts of approximately 70,000 women in his constituency, significantly influencing voter behavior.

“Victory and defeat are part of politics and the decision of the people is supreme,” Chandravanshi remarked, emphasizing that his defeat was a result of strategic factors rather than a lack of public support.

A Legacy of Service in Bishrampur

Ramchandra Chandravanshi served as an MLA from the Bishrampur constituency four times and held ministerial positions in the Jharkhand government twice. Known for his focus on development and public service, he stated that his commitment to the welfare of the region remains unwavering.

“I have always prioritized the development of Bishrampur and will continue to work for the betterment of the people,” he said. Despite stepping away from active politics, Chandravanshi reiterated his dedication to community service.

BJP’s Decision on 2024 Assembly Elections

Ramchandra Chandravanshi disclosed that he had expressed his desire not to contest the 2024 Assembly elections, suggesting that the BJP should field his son as the candidate for Bishrampur. However, the party decided to grant him the ticket instead.

He assured that he would follow the directives of the BJP leadership and contribute to the party’s objectives in non-electoral roles. “Politics never witnesses a sunset,” he noted, underlining his belief in continued service to the party and the people.
