IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Jharkhand Weather
Ranchi, October 05, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Jharkhand on Sunday, covering 10 districts. Weather experts reported that a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has moved towards Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, triggering widespread showers across several regions of Jharkhand.
Districts Likely to Receive Heavy Rainfall in Jharkhand
According to the IMD, districts including Santhal Pargana, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Koderma, Chatra, and Bokaro are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Meanwhile, Ranchi and its adjoining areas are likely to receive light to moderate showers, bringing temporary relief from the humid conditions.
24-Hour Rainfall Recorded Across Jharkhand
In the past 24 hours, Garhwa recorded the highest rainfall at 185 mm, while Ramgarh reported 45 mm and Ranchi measured 8.4 mm of rainfall. The continuous downpour has led to waterlogging in several low-lying districts, affecting normal life and traffic movement.
Relief from Rain Likely from Monday
The Meteorological Department has predicted that weather conditions in Ranchi and nearby regions may improve from Monday. With clearer skies expected, residents are likely to get some relief from heavy rainfall and flooding risks.
