Ranchi, September 6, 2026: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has suspended all its scheduled programmes across Jharkhand until further orders following the sudden death of party central executive member and state minister Sudivya Kumar ‘Sonu’.
The decision also puts on hold the one-day dharna and demonstration planned at all block headquarters on September 7.
JMM central general secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey issued an office order on Sunday informing all district presidents, district secretaries, district convenors, metropolitan presidents and metropolitan convenors about the decision.
Party cancels September 7 block-level protest
According to the order, the proposed statewide protest at block headquarters on September 7 will not be held until further instructions from the party leadership.
Pandey said JMM leaders and workers at all levels were deeply saddened by Sonu’s sudden death and described the loss as a major setback for both the party and the state government.
He directed organisational office-bearers to ensure compliance with the decision during the period of mourning.
Fresh instructions to follow
The JMM general secretary said further directions regarding the party’s upcoming programmes would be issued by the leadership later.
The party expressed condolences to Sonu’s family, relatives and supporters. JMM office-bearers and workers across different organisational levels also conveyed their support to the bereaved family during the period of mourning.
The suspension will remain in effect until the party issues further instructions.
