Chaibasa, September 06, 2026: Kolhan University has announced a two-day closure of its headquarters and affiliated colleges following the death of Jharkhand minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu and the state mourning declared in his memory.
Under the university’s latest notification, the main university campus as well as all constituent and affiliated colleges under Kolhan University will remain closed on September 6 and 7.
The university has also postponed all examinations scheduled for September 7. The revised dates for these examinations will be announced separately by the university’s examination department.
The decision follows the Jharkhand government’s declaration of two days of state mourning on September 6 and 7 after the death of Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who held the portfolios of Urban Development and Housing, Higher and Technical Education, and Tourism, Art and Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
The university notification was issued by Registrar Dr Amar Kumar on the directions of the Vice-Chancellor.
Students appearing for examinations scheduled on September 7 have been advised to wait for the university’s official announcement regarding the revised examination schedule. The university has not yet specified the new dates.
