Lohardaga News: Lohardaga Police Nab Criminal with Firearm Amid Jharkhand Election 2024

Lohardaga, November 04, 2024: In a significant development, Lohardaga Police apprehended a local criminal armed with an illegal firearm, believed to be planning an unlawful act during the ongoing assembly election period. Acting on a tip-off, authorities conducted a swift raid in Salgi village, Kudu Police Station jurisdiction, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Shiv Kumar Singh. The operation was supervised by SP Haris Bin Zaman and coordinated under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shraddha Kerketta, ensuring swift action.

Coordinated Police Operation in Kudu Region

The operation was initiated following intelligence reports suggesting that an individual in the Kudu region was in possession of a weapon, potentially endangering public safety amid the assembly election climate. Responding to the threat, SP Haris Bin Zaman directed SDPO Shraddha Kerketta and Kudu Station Officer Kuldeep Raj Toppo to mobilize a team for a targeted raid in Salgi’s Kolpara neighborhood, leading to Singh’s arrest.

Arrest Details and Seized Weapons

During the operation, police confiscated a locally manufactured firearm (desi katta) and a bullet from the possession of Shiv Kumar Singh, who was taken into custody without incident. An FIR was promptly registered under the Arms Act at Kudu Police Station (Case No. 110/24), and Singh was subsequently transferred to judicial custody.

Criminal’s History Raises Security Concerns

Authorities confirmed that Singh has an extensive criminal history, including past convictions for robbery in Basia and a murder case filed in Karanj, Sisai. Police records indicate that Singh had recently been released from jail, intensifying concerns about potential recidivism. Local residents have voiced apprehension over recurring criminal activity in the region, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures.
