Ramgarh News: Ramgarh Police Seizes Doda Trailer en route from Simdega to Punjab, Arrests Driver

Ramgarh, Jharkhand, October 25, 2024: In a significant pre-election operation, Ramgarh police seized a trailer carrying dried doda, a derivative of opium, en route from Simdega to Punjab. The authorities also apprehended one suspect, Balkaran Singh, a resident of Bathinda, Punjab, following a high-speed chase on the Ramgarh-Ranchi highway. The action was taken after receiving a tip-off from reliable sources, highlighting increased vigilance ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand elections.

Based on a confidential tip received by Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Kumar, a team was swiftly assembled to intercept the trailer suspected of carrying illegal substances. Upon spotting the trailer on the Ramgarh-Ranchi highway, police officials attempted to stop it. However, the driver, noticing the police presence, sped towards Ramgarh. The vehicle was eventually halted after it met with a minor accident at the Gandke turn in Chutupalu Valley.

Simdega to Punjab Illegal Transport: Details of the Seizure

Upon inspection, the police discovered 28 plastic bags hidden under a layer of iron rods. These bags were found to be filled with dried doda, often used in drug production. Initial investigations revealed that the consignment was intended for various locations in Punjab, suggesting a wider network of illegal transportation and drug trade between Jharkhand and other states.

SP Ajay Kumar stated, “The operation was a part of our intensified efforts to curb illegal drug trafficking, especially as the state gears up for elections. We are committed to ensuring a safer environment for our residents.”

The arrested individual, identified as Balkaran Singh, has confessed to transporting the doda from Simdega to different locations in Punjab. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
