Sahibganj News: Land Dispute Turns Deadly in Sahibganj, One Killed, Four Injured

Sahebganj, December 19, 2024: A land dispute turned deadly in Hajipur Diyara West Tola, located in the Mufassil police station area of Sahibganj district. On Thursday morning, a middle-aged man was killed, and four members of his family were critically injured in a violent attack. The injured have been admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Police, led by Mufassil Police Station In-Charge Madan Kumar, reached the scene immediately upon receiving the information and initiated an investigation.

Conflict Escalates Over Land Dispute

The dispute reportedly began on Wednesday evening over irrigation issues in the fields. What started as a minor disagreement between two parties quickly escalated into a heated argument. Although bystanders managed to mediate and temporarily diffuse the situation, tensions flared up again the next morning.

On Thursday, one group launched a brutal attack using sharp weapons, including swords, knives, spears and axes. The assailants targeted Bhup Narayan Rajak, who succumbed to his injuries. Four other family members, his sons, Chiku Rajak, Om Prakash Rajak, Dharmendra Rajak and wife Sarita Devi, were also seriously injured in the attack.

Injured Family Members Undergoing Treatment

The injured were rushed to Sahibganj Sadar Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, two victims were referred to a higher medical center from Pirpainti Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

Authorities are closely monitoring the medical condition of the injured while ensuring they receive adequate care.

Police Investigation Underway

As soon as the incident was reported, Sadar SDPO Kishore Tirkey reached the site to oversee the investigation. According to police sources, the case is being treated as a high-priority matter. Officers are working to uncover all aspects of the attack, including the identities of the attackers and the motive behind the violent escalation.

SP Deepak Pandey has assured the public that swift action will be taken against the culprits. “This heinous act of violence will not go unpunished. Our team is dedicated to bringing justice to the victims and ensuring the safety of the community,” he stated.
