Garhwa Police Achieve Major Breakthrough

Garhwa, December 19, 2024: Garhwa police have successfully arrested notorious criminal Iqbal Khan, accused of the brutal murder of Satya Paswan. The arrest marks a significant milestone in the district’s fight against organized crime. SP Deepak Pandey confirmed the arrest and revealed key details about the case during a press briefing.

The Crime: A Cold-Blooded Murder

On December 3, near Gosai Bagh in the Nagar Untari police station area, Iqbal Khan and his associates allegedly ambushed and shot Satya Paswan. The murder, reportedly premeditated, was executed to settle personal scores and establish dominance in the region.

Following the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the SDPO was formed to investigate the case. The SIT’s meticulous efforts culminated in the apprehension of Iqbal Khan and one of his accomplices.

Arrest Details and Evidence Seized

During the operation, police seized:

  • A country-made pistol
  • Four live cartridges
  • A mobile phone
  • A motorcycle

Iqbal Khan, a habitual offender, has a history of criminal activities with 12 cases registered against him across various police stations in Garhwa district.

Motive Behind the Murder

According to SP Deepak Pandey, the motive for the murder stemmed from Iqbal Khan’s suspicion that Satya Paswan was plotting to kill him. To eliminate the perceived threat and assert his gang’s supremacy in Garhwa, Iqbal orchestrated the attack.

The rivalry between the two individuals underscores the ongoing power struggle among criminal elements in the region.

Criminal Background of Iqbal Khan

Iqbal Khan is a well-known figure in Garhwa’s criminal underworld. His gang has been involved in activities such as:

  • Extortion
  • Planned robberies
  • Violent confrontations

The gang was reportedly planning to expand its operations into Bihar’s Barun area.

Impact on Law and Order

The arrest of Iqbal Khan is expected to bring relief to residents of Garhwa and neighboring regions. Law enforcement agencies believe this development will:

  • Disrupt the activities of Iqbal’s gang.
  • Deter other criminal elements from engaging in similar activities.
  • Strengthen public trust in the police force.

SP Deepak Pandey’s Statement

SP Deepak Pandey lauded the efforts of the SIT and other officers involved in the operation. He emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Garhwa, stating:
“The arrest of Iqbal Khan demonstrates our resolve to ensure the safety and security of our citizens. We will continue to act decisively against criminal elements.”

A Step Towards Justice

The arrest of Iqbal Khan not only addresses the heinous murder of Satya Paswan but also serves as a warning to other offenders. The police remain vigilant and dedicated to dismantling organized crime in Garhwa.
