Jamshedpur, September 08, 2026: Police in East Singhbhum’s Baharagora area have seized 113 kg of ganja allegedly being transported from Odisha and arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the case.

The police also seized the white Tata Curvv allegedly used for transporting the contraband, along with two Android mobile phones and ₹1,500 in cash. The estimated value of the seized ganja is around ₹60 lakh, according to the police.

Acting on a tip-off received by the Senior Superintendent of Police, a police team began vehicle checks near Kaliadinga Chowk in Baharagora. During the operation, officers stopped a car bearing an Odisha registration number and searched the vehicle.

The arrested man has been identified as Pinkan Swain, 27, a resident of Puri, Odisha.

During questioning, police said Swain disclosed the involvement of two other associates in the alleged smuggling operation. According to the police, the group used to transport ganja from Odisha and supply it for sale in Kharagpur and other locations.
