Ranchi, September 8, 2026: The court has reserved its order on the bail application of Abhay Tiwari, who is in judicial custody in connection with the alleged JPSC examination irregularities case.
The hearing on his bail plea has been completed after arguments were presented by both sides. Additional Judicial Commissioner Yogesh Kumar will now pronounce the order at a later date.
Both sides present arguments on bail
The previous hearing on Tiwari’s bail application took place on September 3, when the CID presented its arguments before the court.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, Tiwari’s legal team presented arguments seeking bail. After hearing both sides, the court reserved its decision.
The court’s forthcoming order will determine whether Tiwari receives bail or continues in judicial custody.
CID alleges role in recruitment-related transactions
According to the investigation, the CID has described Tiwari’s alleged role as significant in the case.
Tiwari has previously worked as a marketing manager at TDPL. The investigation alleges that he collected money from relatives as well as other candidates after allegedly promising to help them secure government jobs.
More than 20 people have reportedly been arrested in connection with the broader case, while investigators continue examining different alleged links in the recruitment-related investigation.
The allegations against Tiwari remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
Former JPSC chairman also under investigation
The CID has registered Case No. 16/2026 in connection with alleged irregularities in the JPSC examination.
During the investigation, former JPSC chairman L. Khiangte was arrested and subsequently taken on remand for questioning. He remains in judicial custody.
The investigation has also examined an alleged statement attributed to Abhay Tiwari in which Khiangte’s role was reportedly mentioned.
Alleged statement refers to TDPL selection
According to the material cited in the investigation, Tiwari allegedly told CID officials that the then JPSC chairman had played an important role in the selection of TDPL as the agency responsible for conducting the examination.
The alleged statement is being examined by investigators as they attempt to establish links between the examination process and the alleged irregularities.
The statement and the allegations against the individuals named in the case have not been finally established by a court.
