Ranchi, September 08, 2026: Ranchi Municipal Corporation has removed illegal structures from around 1 acre 20 decimals of government land in Gwala Toli, Doranda, as part of an anti-encroachment drive.
The action was carried out in Ward 45 on land recorded under Khata No. 213 and Plot No. 140. The civic body said the operation followed a notice issued to the occupants earlier this month.
On September 3, the corporation had given the encroachers 48 hours to remove the alleged illegal occupation. After the deadline expired without the site being vacated, the municipal team proceeded with the demolition.
During the drive, officials removed two illegal garages, six cattle sheds, a shop with a shed and other structures from the site.
The corporation said measures have also been taken to protect the cleared land from further encroachment.
RMC warns against commercial use of public land
The civic body said government and public land cannot be used for private or commercial activities and warned that further action would be taken against encroachments.
According to the corporation, the cleared land may be used in the future for public facilities and local development projects.
RMC has also appealed to residents not to occupy government land, roads, footpaths or drains and not to facilitate encroachment.
The civic body said failure to remove illegal occupation within the stipulated period could lead to further legal action.
