Jamshedpur, September 08, 2026: XLRI Jamshedpur and the Academy of Management (AOM) have entered into a landmark academic collaboration aimed at strengthening management research, mentoring doctoral scholars and expanding international academic engagement.

The partnership took shape alongside the AOM-XLRI Doctoral Colloquium 2026, held at XLRI from September 1 to 5. The Academy of Management and XLRI jointly organised the five-day programme, bringing researchers and academics together around emerging issues in management and interdisciplinary research.

One of the key components of the collaboration is the AOM Paper Development Workshop, conducted in conjunction with XLRI on September 1 and 2. The programme is designed to help early-career scholars strengthen research projects through developmental feedback and improve their rigour, relevance and publication potential.

Focus on stronger research and publication

The collaboration is expected to give doctoral researchers and early-career academics greater access to experienced scholars and international academic perspectives.

The workshops provide a platform for researchers to refine their conceptual frameworks, research methodology and presentation of findings. The broader aim is to help scholars develop research that meets international academic standards and has stronger potential for publication.

The 2026 colloquium also brought together scholars, journal editors, academics, practitioners and doctoral researchers for discussions on areas including artificial intelligence, sustainability, digital transformation, strategy, entrepreneurship and the future of work.

International academic network for XLRI researchers

For XLRI’s faculty members and research scholars, the collaboration creates opportunities for interaction with academics from institutions and research communities outside India.

Such engagement can facilitate academic exchange, research collaboration and discussions around contemporary management challenges. The 2026 programme included international scholars and academic experts in its research workshops and colloquium activities.

The doctoral colloquium itself was built around the theme “A Philosophical Confluence towards Business for the Greater Good”, connecting management with ethics, technology and the human sciences.

Research with practical relevance

The collaboration also places emphasis on research addressing emerging challenges rather than limiting academic work to theoretical discussions.

AI, sustainability, human experience and technology-driven changes in business are among the areas highlighted through the 2026 colloquium. XLRI’s doctoral programme platform says the initiative seeks to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and research with broader practical relevance.

The AOM-XLRI initiative therefore represents a significant expansion of opportunities for researchers in India to engage directly with an international management research ecosystem.

With the doctoral colloquium and associated research workshops now established, the collaboration is positioned to provide continuing opportunities for scholarly exchange, research development and academic networking.
